1. Introduction to Barcode Management
Barcode Management in EasyLib helps libraries generate, manage, and print barcodes and spine labels for books and other library materials. This module ensures accurate identification, smooth circulation, and efficient inventory control.
1. Barcode
Barcodes Generation
This screen is used to configure the barcode sheet layout and generate barcodes for selected accession numbers.
A. Sheet Configuration
- Sheet Name: Enter a name for the barcode sheet format (e.g., A4_24_Labels). Useful for reusing layouts.
- Sheet Format: Select paper sizes such as A4.
- Sheet Description: Optional description for identifying the layout purpose.
- Font Size: Defines the text size printed on the barcode label.
- Sheet Pic: Upload a background image or logo if required on the barcode sheet.
B. Margin & Layout Settings
- Left Margin / Right Margin / Top Margin: Set page margins to align labels correctly on the paper.
- Number of Labels: Total labels per sheet.
- Barcode Label Width: Width of each barcode label.
- Barcode Label Height: Height of each barcode label.
- Horizontal Gap: Space between labels horizontally.
- Vertical Gap: Space between labels vertically.
Use Save Sheet Info to store the layout for future use. Delete removes the saved layout, and Clear resets the fields.
C. Barcode Content Settings
- Top Name on Barcode Label: Text to be printed at the top (e.g., Library Name / Institution Name).
- Second Line on Label: Optional second line text such as Department or Campus name.
- Select Barcode Field: Choose the data to be encoded (usually Accession Number).
- From / To: Specify the accession number range for barcode generation.
- Repetition: Number of times each barcode should be repeated (useful for duplicate copies).
- Optional Field to Display at Bottom: Select additional information like Title, Author, or Call Number to print below the barcode.
3. Spine Label Generation
This screen is used to design and generate spine labels, which are pasted on the spine of books for easy shelf arrangement and identification.
A. Sheet Configuration
- Sheet Name: Enter a name for the spine label sheet format. This helps reuse the same layout in the future.
- Sheet Format: Select the paper size (commonly A4).
- Sheet Description: Optional description for identifying the purpose of the layout.
- Font Size: Defines the font size of the text printed on spine labels.
- Sheet Pic: Upload an image if a logo or background is required on the label.

C. Spine Label Content Settings
- Institution Name: Displays the library or institution name on the spine label.
- Select Field: Choose the main data to be printed (commonly Accession Number).
- From / To: Specify the accession number range for which spine labels need to be generated.
- Repetition: Number of times each spine label should repeat (useful for multiple copies).
- Optional Field to Display at Bottom: Select additional information such as Call Number or Class Number to appear at the bottom of the spine label.
D. Spine Label Generation
- Generate SpineLabel(s): Generates printable spine labels based on the selected configuration.
- Clear: Clears all entered values and selections.
Outcome:
A printable spine label sheet is generated, helping librarians organize books systematically on shelves.
5. Barcode From Queue
Purpose:
This feature generates barcodes only for items that were previously added to the barcode queue.
Steps:
- Navigate to Barcode ? Barcode from Queue
- Review items available in the queue
- Select required items
- Generate and print barcodes
Benefits:
- Controlled barcode generation
- Useful for staged or department-wise processing
5. Add Barcodes to Queue
This screen is used to collect and manage barcodes in a temporary queue before generating or printing them. It allows flexible barcode selection using single entry, range entry, file upload, or random selection.
A. Barcode Selection Options
- Choose Field: Select the barcode-related field (e.g., Accession Number) on which barcodes will be added to the queue.
- Barcode (Single Entry): Enter a single barcode value and click Add to Queue to add it.
- Barcode From / Barcode To: Enter a start and end barcode value to add a range of barcodes to the queue at once.
- Random: Automatically select random barcodes from the system and add them to the queue.
B. Import Barcodes from File
- Select Text File: Upload a text file containing barcode values.
- List: Displays the barcodes from the uploaded file for review before adding them to the queue.
This option is useful when barcodes are prepared externally or shared by departments.
C. Queue Management
- Add to Queue: Adds selected barcode(s) to the queue.
- Delete (Individual): Removes a specific barcode from the queue.
- Delete (Bulk): Removes selected or all barcodes from the queue.
- Search: Quickly find a barcode in the queue.
- Show Entries: Control the number of barcodes displayed per page.
D. Queue Display Details
- Barcode No.: Displays the barcode value added to the queue.
- Barcode Type: Indicates the item type (e.g., Book).
Outcome:
Selected barcodes are stored in the queue and can be used later in Generate Barcodes from Queue for controlled and batch-wise barcode generation.

7. Generate Barcodes from Queue (Screen-wise Explanation)
This screen is used to generate and print barcodes only for items already added to the Barcode Queue. It ensures controlled and error-free barcode generation.
A. Sheet Configuration
- Sheet Name: Select or enter a saved barcode sheet layout.
- Sheet Format: Choose the paper size (e.g., A4).
- Sheet Description: Optional description for identifying the layout.
- Font Size: Defines the font size used on the barcode label.
- Sheet Pic: Upload a logo or background image if required.

- Left Margin / Right Margin / Top Margin: Adjust margins for accurate label alignment.
- Number of Labels: Total number of barcode labels per sheet.
- Barcode Label Width: Width of each barcode label.

Click Save Sheet Info to store the layout for reuse.
